Our Primary Care Team

Dr. Bolduc completed her residency at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, where she also attended medical school. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Dr. Bolduc is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a fellow of the American College of Physicians, and an HIV specialist credentialed through the American Academy of HIV Medicine. 

She joined Trillium Health in 2018 and was appointed Chief Medical Officer in 2022. In her spare time, Dr. Bolduc enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her two children and husband.

Dr. Fatma Akmese is a board-certified family medicine physician with over 20 years of experience caring for patients in the Rochester area. She earned her medical degree through the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at City College of New York and SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. She completed her Family Medicine residency in Fresno, California.

Dr. Akmese is passionate about delivering compassionate primary care and has a strong interest in addiction medicine and harm reduction. She is fluent in Spanish and Turkish, which helps her connect with patients from diverse backgrounds.

Born in Southeast Turkey and raised in New York City, Dr. Akmese brings a rich cultural perspective to her work. Outside of medicine, she enjoys painting, writing poetry, playing the ukulele, and exploring comedy. She spends most of her free time with her family.

Samantha attended St. John Fisher University where she earned her master’s in nursing specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, playing video games, and spending time with her dogs.

Dr. Cooper attended the University of Rochester School of Medicine and completed her Family Medicine and HIV Specialist training at Lawrence Family Medicine Residency. Dr. Cooper conducts visits in English and Spanish. She enjoys reading and gardening.

Emily Duke attended school at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. She specializes in Internal Medicine and Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Dependence. In her spare time, Emily enjoys running, mountain biking, and playing with her dogs.

Rebecca Klein attended the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her husband, reading, crocheting, and visiting with her friends and family.

Lindsey attended Daemen College, where she earned her Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies. In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys cooking, reading, and crafts.

Justine Nichols is a Physician Assistant who graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology. In her free time, she enjoys doing crafts, baking, and spending time with her friends and family.

Bill Schaefer attended school at Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland and received his degree in 2005.

Rosemarie Lanza Surowiec is our Physician Assistant for Sexual Health. She graduated from Emory University’s Physician Assistant Program and has 30 years of experience as a Physician Assistant. As a Sexual Health Provider at Trillium Health, she specializes in PEP/PrEP, HIV Prevention, sexually transmitted infections, and gynecology services. In her spare time, she loves to travel, cook, and spend time with family and friends.

Stuart attended medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency, where he was a member of the Primary Care Track, followed by an Addiction Medicine fellowship, both at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. Dr. MacKay is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine. His clinical interests include preventive care and substance use disorder treatment. Originally from Buffalo, NY, Stuart is, of course, a Bills fan. In his free time, he enjoys reading and spending time with his family.
